Abstract Since the 1960s, the global natural gas industry has developed rapidly, and natural gas has become a fossil fuel that can balance supply stability, economic efficiency of consumption, clean and low-carbon features at the current stage. However, there is a regional imbalance in the global demand for natural gas, and the continuous rise in geopolitical risks negatively affects the stability of the natural gas market. In recent years, LNG export capacity in the U.S. has continued to grow, and the potential for China-U.S. LNG trade in the future is enormous. From the perspective of development opportunities, strengthening LNG trade cooperation with the U.S. is conducive to the diversification of natural gas import sources for China. From the perspective of challenges, China-U.S. LNG trade cooperation also involves potential risks in terms of economy and channels.
